Popbox summary 2021
Bornhack 2021 is now done, and we have packed the popboxes. We had no weather issues with any of the 4 POP boxes deployed.
This is as close to a wooden crate as we can come without actualy building a crate.
We did a parts counts while packing them.
Part | Count |
---|---|
Lids | 11 |
Bottoms | 10 |
Back | 11 |
Front | 11 |
Sides | 14 (+5 non-perfect) |
The only “casualties”, were the newest boxes, which were a really tight fit, so some of the taps broke, and the slid in the side for the bottom breaks also.
Access to a lasercutter in the future might be more difficult, and we have some possible improvements:
- use a wirefence insted of the wires, since it might give more stability
- new box design with 3D printed corners, designed to have regular rectagular sides and bottome, so lasercutting would not be needed
- 3D print a “hook” with a screw instead of the nail. It looks better and during teardons, taking out the nails is diffcult, so screwing would be simpler and the hook would be better at holding the tarp than the nail
